The Unexpected Benefits of Wisdom Teeth Removal

Posted on (not posted yet) by San Tan Oral Surgery
Senior-couple-huggingWisdom teeth are the molars that are located toward the back of your mouth. These are also referred to as third molars, and it is possible to have one or more of these teeth on the upper or lower part of your mouth. Many people may not have enough room for the third molars to erupt from the gums without harming the surrounding teeth or causing terrible pain. In some cases, these teeth will become impacted below other teeth. Thankfully, wisdom teeth removal is an option, and it may be just what you need.

What is the Process?

We can take X-rays of your mouth to determine how many wisdom teeth you have, and we may want to remove these teeth before you experience any discomfort. However, you may have neglected your dental health until the third molars begin to erupt, and this is when you will need an emergency procedure because your gums will swell and bleed. You may have serious pain from impacted third molars with headaches, discomfort in the neck and earaches. Fortunately, we understand how to remove the wisdom teeth quickly, and you will recover from the procedure quicker than you might have thought. Most patients who have wisdom teeth removal are teenagers and young adults who will have a rapid recovery when they follow our team’s advice.

How are Wisdom Teeth Removed?

You are sedated for the wisdom teeth removal, so you can be sure you won’t feel any discomfort during the procedure. You are monitored closely to avoid any problems. Your mouth is prepared with devices that will capture saliva and blood. From there, the wisdom teeth are skillfully removed using specialized techniques.

What Can Wisdom Teeth Removal Do for Me?

The removal of wisdom teeth will prevent future problems from developing and can ultimately help you address the situation before it gets worse or painful. Early removal is ideal, but our team at San Tan Oral Surgery would be more than happy to assess your unique case and determine if wisdom teeth removal is right for you. Contact us today to book an appointment at our office in Gilbert, AZ. We look forward to speaking with you!

What our patients are saying about us

"Dr. Colson is amazing! She explained everything thoroughly without sounding condescending and gently but directly guides you through the whole procedure. She is excellent and super experienced. I got my wisdom teeth pulled (3 partially impacted and one simply extracted) and aside from asking too many questions under laughing gas before the general anesthesia knocked me out, I got no complications and have had essentially no pain at all." – Ana D.
